· A Postcard to You ·
Super-eight film, A Postcard to You, examines the search for contentment through the pursuit of escape, set against the coast of Maine. Known as “Vacationland”, Maine is known for its rugged yet idyllic landscape–untouched, like a timeless beauty. I often find myself dreaming of Maine, drawn to it in an imaginative way like the melancholic magic of an Andrew Wyeth painting. Inspired by the sentiment of yearning, a portion of the film was shot at the Olsen house, where Wyeth painted the infamous Christina's World. The nostalgic quality of the super-eight film enhances the themes of childlike wonder, heightened awareness, and admiration. Each frame becomes a postcard of sorts—fragmented yet deeply personal—inviting the viewer to discover stillness within the coastal haven.
Selected for the 6th edition of the Flat Earth Film Festival in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland, November 2023.
